Asphalt Binder Installed on Locust Lane

Woodmere Lane:
No work completed on-site last week.

The final step in completing the project will be the installation of sod. Depending on the weather conditions, the contractor may begin installing sod. Otherwise, the contractor will wait until the weather is cooler for more favorable growing conditions.

Locust Lane:

Last week the contractor performed work in preparation for asphalt paving including grading of the existing aggregate base course, repairing unstable sections of the base course, and saw-cutting of intersections and driveways. The contractor also installed the asphalt binder layer on the roadway.

Next week, the contractor is scheduled to perform landscape grading, topsoil installation, leakage testing, and other miscellaneous tasks. Depending on the weather conditions, the contractor may begin installing sod. Otherwise, the contractor will wait until the weather is cooler for more favorable growing conditions.

Once the landscape restoration is completed, the asphalt surface layer will be installed.

Now that the asphalt binder is installed, the amount of dust will be greatly reduced.

Thank you for your patience during the construction operations, including driving on a gravel roadway and dusty conditions.

Pavement Removal Completed on Locust Lane

Woodmere Lane:
No work completed on-site last week.

The final step in completing the project will be the installation of sod and installing pavement markings at Glenview Road. Sod will not be installed until after the Labor Day weekend due to more favorable growing conditions.

Locust Lane:

Last week the contractor completed the remaining underground utility improvements and removed the existing asphalt pavement.

Next week, the contractor is scheduled to perform fine grading of the aggregate base course and asphalt paving.

Now that the asphalt pavement is removed, the roadway is essentially a gravel roadway until the new asphalt pavement is installed. The Village is committed to ensuring the roadway is as smooth as possible.

Water Main and Services Completed on Locust

Woodmere Lane:
No work completed on-site last week.

The final step in completing the project will be the installation of sod. Sod will not be installed until after the Labor Day weekend due to more favorable growing conditions.

Locust Lane:

Last week the contractor installed and connected all of the new water services from the new water main to each residents individual water connection. The contractor also completed the connections and disconnections between the existing water main and new water main. The new water main is completely installed and fully operational.

Next week, the contractor will complete the remaining underground utility improvements. The contractor will also begin the roadway rehabilitation process along the roadway. The contractor is scheduled to be on-site on Tuesday, August 20th, to remove the existing asphalt pavement to the existing aggregate base course. The contractor will then perform any needed base repairs and perform fine grading prior to installing the new asphalt pavement.

We appreciate your patience this past week during the multiple water main shut-downs while completing the water main portion of the project.

Once the asphalt pavement is removed, the roadway will essentially be a gravel roadway until the new asphalt pavement is installed. The Village is committed to ensuring the roadway is as smooth as possible and minimizing, to the greatest extent possible, the time from pavement removal to pavement installation.

Thank you for your patience during the construction operations.

Water Services to Start on Locust

Woodmere Lane:
The roadway was paved last week as part of the 2013 Village Resurfacing Project.

The final step in completing the project will be the installation of sod. Sod will not be installed until after the Labor Day weekend due to more favorable growing conditions.

Locust Lane:

Last week the Village received all the required test results and permits to allow the contractor to begin installing water services to the residents.

Next week, the contractor will begin installing water services to individual residents and complete the remaining underground utility work including connecting the new water main to the existing systems and abandoning the old water main. During the connections to the existing water main, there will likely be a scheduled water main shut off. Residents will be notified 24-hours in advance prior to any scheduled water main shut-down.

During water service installation and connection to the existing service, water to individual homes will be shut off for a short period of time. The contractor will knock on the door of any home that will not have water prior to turning it off. The contractor will attempt to give each resident approximately 1 hour notice prior to turning of the water to install the water service.

Thank you for your patience during the construction operations.
